General questions and answers
A surveillance camera?
Yes, like real ones, it can "see" objects, rotate around its base and trigger alarms.
Do I need to subscribe to this mod to make the cameras work?
No, this is a showcase map, it is for those who want to create CCTV cameras or use CCTV cameras in their maps. If any cards ask you to subscribe to this mod, ignore it.
Do they break?
The script doesn't force them to be indestructible, so maybe
Does this script work in campaign/robbery mode?
Yes, the script has built-in support for robbery mode
Is it possible to create them?
Yes, but please note that creating one in heist mode will (very likely) increase the complexity as the cameras are stricter than any existing vanilla protection systems
Do they really see objects?
Unfortunately, no, simulating camera vision in the modding environment provided by game is very expensive and complicated, so it only checks the points on the target (for example, the center point of the object)
Can they show output images like real ones?
Theoretically this is possible, but we have to choose between performance and output image quality. This problem is mentioned in the discussion.
Specifications
Two default behaviors:
look at a fixed direction
patrol in multiple directions
Turn and follow the player after detection
Return to default if the target is lost
The possibility of detecting vandalism, fire and crime
Error message on failure
Additional light sources with autonomous control (optional)

About modding
The showcase map contains guides explaining all the properties of the camera, create a local copy to access the script (cctvCam.lua) |
