Two-cylinder John Deere 80, 820 and 830 diesel tractors of 1955, 1958 and 1959.

The Model 80 was introduced in 1955, replacing the old model R. It received new features such as a more powerful diesel engine, a different starting engine and six forward speeds. Options included power steering, PTO (direct PTO is also available) and remote hydraulics.

The John Deere 820 series was produced between 1956 and 1958, a total of 7,080 tractors were built during this period. The only difference between the 80 and 820 is the introduction of a common electric starter and a more powerful motor.

In 1959, the John Deere 830 was introduced. It retained the same powerplant as the 820. For standard wheatland models, an electric starter was offered instead of a gasoline starter. The John Deere 830 became known as the "Two-cylinder King" because it was the largest two-cylinder John Deere ever built, and the last to complete one of the best generations of John Deere.
