Price: 34 700 €
In 1985, in order to conquer the American market, the German company Deutz AG acquired the agricultural division of the American tractor manufacturer Allis-Chalmers, which was in financial difficulties at the time.
Since 1986, various models based on the Deutz-Fahr DX have been introduced. They were no longer painted orange like the previous Allis-Chalmers cars, but were painted in the light green color of Deutz-Fahr tractors.
In 1989, the 9100 series was introduced, specially designed for the American market. The tractors were built at the White Tractor Plant in Coldwater, Ohio and had a lot in common with the White Workhorse line.
Air-cooled Deutz engines were only installed under the hood of the strikingly long tractor.
For Deutz, the trip to America was unsuccessful; in total, they lost more than DM 1 billion in five years on the American market. This was mainly due to the poor exchange rate between the US dollar and
German mark at the time.
In May 1990, Deutz AG sold its subsidiary through a management buyout with retroactive effect until December 31, 1989. Credits: Julian F. Modding |
