nissan fairlady z (japanese 産 産 産 フ ェ ア レ デ ィ z) is a series of japanese sports cars manufactured by nissan. the first z-car was sold in october 1969 in japan as nissan fairlady z. export versions were sold as datsun 240z. since 2009, nissan has been manufacturing a new car nissan 370z.

early models of fairlady z were built at the factory in hiratsuk until 2000, late models (350z and 370z) were built in yokosuka (2002-2004) and tochigi (since 2004). cars stand out for their appearance, reliability, power and availability. in japan these cars were sold as fairlady z, in other countries under the names nissan s30, nissan s130, nissan 300zx, nissan 350z and nissan 370z.

because of the relatively low price fairlady, compared to other foreign sports cars of that time (jaguar, bmw and so on), it became popular in the united states and was a great success for nissan motor corp., which at the same time was selling datsun 240z in the north america, also expanded the concept of a japanese car in a small price category.
