MOD CAR 1960 CHEVROLET CORVETTE FOR CAR MECHANIC SIMULATOR 2018
Chevrolet Corvette C1 (1953 - 1962)
This legendary rear-wheel drive oil car appeared in 1953 at the auto show in New York. Its serial release, initially, was not planned. Chevrolet Corvette was introduced as a show car. The very first roadster model was produced at a factory in Flint, Michigan on June 30, 1953.
The close attention of visitors to the exhibition forced the management of General Motors to reconsider their plans and in the first year three hundred two-door two-seater convertibles were produced. In fact, every 1953 Chevrolet Corvette was assembled by hand. All cars were released in white with red trim.
Chevrolet Corvette was equipped with a six-cylinder engine, a volume of 3.9 liters and a capacity of 150 horsepower. The transmission used a two-speed automatic. Acceleration to 100 km / h was 12 seconds.
The set included plastic windows for doors, as well as a soft polymer roof. You could buy a car for $ 2774. Today, 200 out of 300 cars are in private collections. It is noteworthy that the first two roadsters disappeared without a trace.
Seeing the real demand for the Chevrolet Corvette, the manufacturer already in 1954 began to build ambitious plans for the model. Production was not long in coming. 3640 copies were produced during the year.
Technically, it was the same 1953 Chevrolet Corvette, with the only difference being that now it was not manual assembly and the body color palette was expanded to four colors: white, black, Pennant Blue and Sportsman Red. However, about 80% of the cars were exactly white. A soft roof was offered in beige. The cost has remained unchanged, and by the end of the year another 1,100 cars remained unsold.
Despite the lack of increased demand, the manufacturer was in no hurry to make significant changes to the initial development. Although, part of the 1955 Chevrolet Corvette was equipped with eight-cylinder engines with a volume of 4.3 liters and a horsepower of 195 horsepower. Up to “hundreds”, the novelty accelerated in just 9 seconds, while a six-cylinder modification would take 11.5 seconds. Roadsters that were equipped with eight-cylinder engines used a 12-volt electrical system. Then, as their smaller brothers were equipped with a 6-volt. Also, modifications to the V8 were distinguished by the golden letter V on the front wings in the word Chevrolet.
In 1955, a two-speed automatic transmission, if desired, could be replaced by a three-speed manual.
